Geodetic VLBI Network
In the field of geodesy, scientists apply extremely weak but precise extraterrestrial radio sources as a reference for the calibration of the global geodesic grid, which is also used to support several global navigation systems.
Major design parameters for the corresponding receive-only ground station antennas are the pointing accuracy and the electrical path length stability.
For geodetic VLBI Network applications CPI Antenna Technologies' VERTEX ANTENNENTECHNIK developed an innovative 13m class Full Motion Antenna for the implementation of broadband feeds and combined feeds with frequencies up to 40 GHz and higher.
The technical requirements comply with VGOS or even with more stringent VLBI 2010 requirements.
